"Crossing Rannoch Moor by car or by train is dramatic enough, so I can't image how the cattle drovers, the soldiers and the clans managed it back in the day.

Even in the summer months there can be a bleak beauty to this ancient landscape. However the weather stayed good enough for me to get some preliminary sketches done and have the early autumn colours imprinted in my mind's eye."
