Shadows and Dust is an original oil painting by Scottish artist Alexander Millar.

"Whenever I can, I return to Claude Monet’s work, especially the London scenes that he painted when staying there.

What captures my imagination is how he mastered the use of colour and texture and in his way, would almost forget the building he was portraying. Like the Houses of Parliament - blurring the detail and becoming engrossed in the play of light and the atmosphere that it created.

It’s so true that the memories we have of our own past and the family we shared it with, who are no longer with us, is just like that, shadows and dust that still capture something of those bygone days."
