Goodbye to Glasgow, time to retire

18th Jun 2026

After decades of success as one of the UK’s popular artists, I've decided to retire.

So in September, I'm closing the Glasgow Gallery in Princes Square to take step back from business life.

To mark this milestone, I'm having a retirement sale online and in our Glasgow Gallery before it closes in September, giving collectors a final opportunity to acquire artworks from my portfolio - with 50% saving on all existing artwork*.

I’m now 65 and after some health concerns last year, I’ve decided to slow down a bit. Opening our galleries in New York, Newcastle and Glasgow has been an incredible journey, but now is the time to focus on family and home.

I think that my work resonates with a generation growing up in the latter part of the 20th century, who see themselves and their families reflected in the characters I paint.

I hope I have captured the heart and soul of the UK’s post industrial cities, represented by The Gadgie (my signature working man).

I want this gear-change from work to leisure to be a celebration of everything we’ve built over the years,” he says. “This is about embracing the next phase – becoming a Gadgie myself and enjoying the freedom that comes with it.”
