Make a Wish is a signed, limited edition print of the original oil painting by Alexander Millar.
"When painting my 'gadgies' I regularly include a prop or two - often a bike, a dog - or both. And why not a splash of the primary colours of balloons.
This artwork is inspired by a scene I saw frequently in the village where I grew up. Either there was a wee 'dug' running alongside his master's bike or he was perched on the back, hanging desperately on to the rear rack.
Balloons had a special place in my heart as they were usually a result of giving old clothes to the Rag and Bone Man that came around, blowing his horn to get your attention.
With the trade securing me a balloon, I would run back home to play slow motion football in the hallway, using both doorways as goalposts until it burst.
Today I place balloons in a lot of my paintings - representing hopes, desires and wishes, all of which you have to treat with respect else they too will burst before your eyes."
