My love of Scottish history has been influenced by various visual interpretations of my nation's story through paintings, films and TV. So it’s no surprise that the iconic Eilean Donan Castle has always fascinated me.
The castle's unique location on the junction of three sea lochs close to the Isle of Skye allows it to be illuminated by misty dawns, Atlantic sunsets and brooding mountain storms. The light from the sky and from the surrounding water constantly change the texture and mood of its fortified walls and main keep.
