Framed Original Oil painting
King of QueensSize: 119 × 89 cm
I have an old leather case of photographs that’s been in the family for as long as I can remember. It contains old black and white images of my grandfather, looking very dapper. When I looked at these photographs, I wondered how my ‘papa’ was as a young man – how he dressed, what is hopes, loves and aspirations were.
My speculation and imagination led me to produces a series of paintings and drawing called Youth and Young Manhood – when my work-weary gadgies were young men full of vigour and style, emulating their Hollywood heroes.
The setting for this painting may be familiar to those who have seen the Woody Allen film Manhattan, viewed from the iconic park bench at Sutton Square, overlooking the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge.
