Perfect partners for Valentine’s Day

One of New York’s newest art galleries, Alexander Millar Fine Art, hosted one of the city’s oldest associations for a Valentine’s Day event with a difference.

Members of New York’s Caledonian Club were invited to an evening with artist Alexander Millar at his 5th Avenue gallery in Manhatten’s Chelsea Flatiron District.

After canapes and cocktails, club members were entertained by the artist while he completed an oil painting. As Alexander worked on the painting, he regaled the audience with humorous tales of his childhood and youth in Scotland and how this influenced and inspired his paintings and drawings.

Caledonian Club members were welcomed by Clan Chief Sue Ann McDevitt, and Alexander was introduced to the group by President of the New York Tartan Week, Kyle Dawson. Kyle also took this opportunity to announce that one of Alexander’s paintings will be used on the official Tartan Week T-shirts.

The “Everyday Heroes NYC” collection of paintings and prints that generated much interest at the event, are also now available in the UK.

The collection can be viewed online and the story of what inspired Alexander to create these very emotional paintings is described here.
