The Hancock Gallery, Newcastle’s newest art gallery, has provided a unique opportunity for Alexander to exhibit his most comprehensive collection to date.
Travel through time with one of the UK’s most celebrated contemporary impressionists – from the spark that launched his artistic career to the places that have inspired him.
This retrospective event gives fans the chance to view and purchase works spanning the last 20 years, including pieces from the artist’s personal collection and many that have never been seen by the public before.
Visitors will encounter the landscapes and working men of the West coast of Scotland, brooding, romantic landscapes from the UK’s great industrial cities of the 20th century and Peaky Blinders inspired paintings and drawings, as well as selected pieces from his more recent collection currently showing in his New York gallery.
“This exhibition at the Hancock Gallery in Newcastle has me coming full circle back to the city that I now call home – a city that has motivated much of my painting” – Alexander Millar.
