Glencoe is deep in the psyche of Scots at home and abroad. The scene of a tragic episode in a civil war, the name of this famous glen conjures up images of kinship, politics and betrayal.

There are several versions of the MacDonald/Campbell story but I’m sure the tale would be less well know had it not been set in such a dramatic and imposing landscape.

The Glen now is filled with more peaceful pursuits, and when the sun shines it is glorious, but the sudden changes in its weather reminds us what an inhospitable place it can be.

Here I’ve tried to convey how that contrary weather can create a sense of beauty and awe.
